With the FIFA World Cup and the holidays landing at the same time, the Georgia Lottery recognized a great opportunity to tell fútbol fans about the most potentially rewarding stocking stuffer, Holiday Scratchers. We worked with ad agency Sensis to create a festive, 30-second spot featuring a text exchange between Santa Clause and Rodolfo.
Animation
We explored a variety of styles, from cartoony 2D to photo collage. Incorporating a range of animation techniques, the Spanish-language spot combines a CG open and close with a 2D center section. In addition to modeling and animating the 3D Santa hand and phone, we also composited the Santa and Rodolfo animations and created all the festive animated emojis that appear on screen.

The spots aired during the World Cup and successfully reinforced awareness of Holiday Scratchers as a fun, inexpensive holiday gift.
Pivot
Originally the characters’ were illustrated in a cartoon style. After Sensis requested a change in direction, we pivoted to a photo-collage style that everyone dug.
